Assistant Superintendent Arrested In Rape Probe
An officer of the Guyana Police Force is under investigation as rape allegations have been leveled against him by a 13 year old girl who is a very close relative of his.
The report was made to the police today Monday and the cop was contacted, told of the allegation and placed under close arrest.
Under the Sexual Offences Act, we are prohibited from naming the accused or the victim or relate their association, all in the protecting the interest of the latter party.
However sources close to investigation have indicated that the officer was left home along with the child as her mother went out with a friend.
It is unclear if the child related the matter of rape to her mother or the friend but when the development was conveyed to the adult, the police were informed.
The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
Today efforts by the BIG Smith Crime Watch to make contact with the police officer were futile as he did not respond to messages or calls which were placed to his mobile phone.
