HENRY BOYS MURDER: Handyman arrested as Major Crime take over investigation
The Guyana Police Force has taken into custody another person in connection with the murders of Joel and Isaiah Henry of No.3 Village West Coast Berbice Region 5.
Hours after the police arrested the owner of the coconut plantation, the moved in and arrested the handyman early this morning who is also tasked with the day to day operations at the property. Both of the men have since denied their involvement or knowledge or any part in the murders of Joel and Isaiah.
Police Detectives from the Guyana Police Force Major Crimes Unit have taken over the investigations with immediate effect and have been looking for a number of other persons in connection with the gruesome killings of the boys.
At the moment, most of Guyana is outraged over the incident which is being referred to as a hate crime while others are alleging that the killings were race-related.
President Irfaan Ali, Opposition leader Joseph Harmon and Minister of Home Affairs have all expressed outrage at the developments and called for the police to be able to bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice swiftly.
As a direct consequence of the development of the bodies of the boys being found mutilated on Sunday afternoon, angry and hurt residents have taken to the streets where the roads are being blocked, and debris burnt as a sign of frustration and outrage over what has happened.
On Saturday the boys went missing after spending considerable time in the Backdam where they went to pick coconuts.
The relatives launched a search party since Saturday for the boys and recommenced that search on Sunday morning but were only able to find them late Sunday afternoon. There were multiple marks of violence on the remains of the young men when their bodies were discovered.
A police report also stated that where the remains of the young men were found had no weapons close boy or no bloodstains.
However, checks on the coconut estate where the boys were picking coconut revealed bloodstains which suggested that the boys were murdered on that plantation and then dragged to the location where their remains were found. The police report stated that the remains of the boys were found 620feet apart from each other.
