DEAD: Aldren Adonis

A 40-year-old inmate of Holding Bay One at the Lusignan Prison died mid-morning today, after being chopped, reportedly by four other prisoners, late Monday night. The incident occurred shortly after 11 o’clock.

The victim, Aldren Adonis also known Shawn Peters, was on remand for Simple Larceny.
According to information received, Adonis was in Holding Bay Two of the facility, while the suspects were in Holding Bay One. Around 10:35 pm, Adonis reportedly scaled the fence which separates the two sections, when he and the four suspects had an exchange of words, and a brawl ensued between them.

The four suspects, who were armed with improvised cutlasses, dealt Adonis a number of chops about his body – to the head, chest, hands and both feet.

The badly wounded inmate was taken to the medical outpost at the prison where he was examined and immediately referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted in a critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries. Three improvised cutlasses were recovered from the scene of the melee.
An investigation has been launched.
