IN CUSTODY: 20-YEAR-OLD SUSPECT Fabian Abraham

Police detectives were up to press time today questioning and receiving a statement from a 20-year-old man who was turned over to the police after he reportedly murdered a 48-year-old farmer of Moco Moco Village, Central Rupununi on Wednesday afternoon.

Dead is Leron Ault, also known as Junior while Fabian Abraham who initially went into hiding after committing the act, was handed over to the police by his relatives who turned him over to law enforcement.

BIG Smith News Watch was told that on the day in question at approximately 14:00hrs, the farmer went to a location where Abraham was in order to collect some money which was owed to him by a female.

The woman then told the man that she does not have the money as business was slow but the farmer went to the back of the yard where he met another man, who also resides at the said address as the suspect and the woman who owed him the money.

The farmer then began imbibing with the man and others and about two hours after, an argument broke out between the suspect and the now-deceased man, resulting in the suspect picking up a piece of wood which he used to dealt a lash to the head and chest of the 48-year-old farmer before fleeing.

The victim was picked up and rushed to the Lethem Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor who pronounced him dead on arrival. An examination of the body revealed lacerations to the chest and a wound to the head.

The police are continuing their investigations into the matter.
