Minister Mustapha leads plant distribution for Berbice farmers

Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha on Friday led a major plant distribution exercise at the Edinburgh Community Centre, providing farmers from several villages along the East Bank of Berbice with quality seedlings to expand their cultivation.

The distribution follows a commitment made by Mustapha during a recent visit to the area, where farmers highlighted the need for reliable planting materials to increase production.

The seedlings are expected to help farmers expand their cultivation while reducing the costs associated with establishing crops.

The exercise forms part of the Government’s continued investment in agriculture along the East Bank of Berbice and its efforts to provide farmers with quality planting materials at no cost.

The initiative also reflects the Ministry’s approach of responding to concerns raised during community engagements, with commitments being followed by tangible assistance on the ground.

Also present were Regional Chairman Junior Basant, Regional Vice Chairman Wajid Saheed Khan, Member of Parliament Zamal Hussain and other regional and community officials.
