The charred items Lance Corporal Khemwantie Persaud and her husband had to throw out after the fire

A female Police Lance Corporal attached to the Den-Amstel Police Station had her home gutted on Sunday afternoon by a fire of unknown origin while she and her reputed husband were out.

BIG Smith News Watch informed that the couple left home before 10:00hrs on Sunday and sometime close to 14:00hrs, they received information that their home was on fire.

A room wall with broken windows and burnt out AC Unit

Woman Detective Lance Corporal Khemwantie Persaud and her husband left their Lot 33 Anna Catherina South, West Coast Demerara home and travelled to Parika on Sunday morning. According to what we were told, the couple unplugged unused household appliances before leaving the house as is customary.

From all indications, the fire started in a self-contained room which the couple has. The flat concrete structure sits in a yard with another building. The other building was untouched as firefighters responded promptly and brought the fire under control based on what this publication was told.

Smoke was first seen emanating from the bedroom according to what neighbours related and they immediately contacted the fire the service. A value was not placed to the damage caused by the fire but from what was communicated to BIG Smith News Watch, the building was not insured.
