The Guyana Police Force celebrated the successful completion of several key training programmes during a formal graduation ceremony held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the Officers’ Training Centre in Eve Leary, Georgetown.

The event marked the conclusion of the Junior Leaders Courses 1 and 2, Final Training #2/2025, and the Introduction to Migration and Diaspora Studies.

These programmes were designed to enhance the leadership capacity, professional development, and cultural understanding of police ranks across various levels.

Participants included Constables, Lance Corporals, and Corporals who demonstrated strong performance and commitment throughout the intensive training sessions. Family members, instructors, and senior officers gathered to witness the occasion and celebrate the achievements of the graduating cohort.

A notable component of the programme was the Introduction to Migration and Diaspora Studies, facilitated by Dr. Coreen Jacobs of the University of Guyana. This course aimed to deepen the officers’ knowledge of migration trends and the role of diaspora communities, broadening their perspective on global and local security dynamics.

The featured address was delivered by Woman Senior Superintendent Sonia Herbert, who underscored the significance of the training as a stepping stone to greater responsibility within the Force.

She emphasized the importance of ethical conduct, community engagement, and professionalism, reminding graduates that their role extends beyond enforcement to building trust and upholding justice.

Outstanding participants were recognized for their excellence during the ceremony:

Junior Leaders Course 1

  • First Place: Woman Lance Corporal James

  • Second Place: Woman Lance Corporal Dorris

  • Third Place: Lance Corporal Persaud

  • Most Improved: Lance Corporal Ferreira

Junior Leaders Course 2

  • First Place: Woman Corporal Solomon

  • Second Place: Corporal Gangnam

  • Third Place (tie): Corporal Singh and Corporal Benn

Final Training #2/2025

  • First Place: Corporal Samnarain

  • Second Place: Constable Smith

  • Third Place (tie): Woman Constable Faikall and Constable Fraser

Senior officers including Woman Superintendent J. Sullivan and Deputy Superintendent R. Gurdyal were also in attendance.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Valedictorian Woman Lance Corporal James, who acknowledged the guidance of instructors and the support of families and leadership throughout the training process.
