April 10 2025- Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo on Tuesday firmly stated that there will be no “cover-up” in the investigation into the recent police shootings that have rocked the town of Linden.

Speaking at his weekly press briefing, he assured the public that a thorough and transparent probe will be conducted, and that appropriate actions will follow once the investigation is completed.

The tragic incidents began on Monday afternoon when Ronaldo Peters was shot by a Police Sergeant in the One Mile area of Linden.

This incident immediately sparked widespread protests throughout the mining town on Tuesday, as residents took to the streets demanding justice and accountability.

Tensions escalated further when Keon Fogenay, a protester, was fatally shot by police during the demonstrations.

The community has since been gripped by grief and outrage, with calls for justice intensifying. Authorities are now under mounting pressure to ensure a credible investigation is carried out, as citizens and rights groups express concerns about police use of force. Dr. Jagdeo emphasized that the government will not shield anyone found responsible and reiterated the administration’s commitment to justice and accountability.
