Motorcycle Bandit Shot by Victim

– Accomplice Fled the Scene

Police are investigating an alleged ‘Robbery under Arms’ incident involving a 32-year-old contractor that occurred around 19:45 hrs on Sunday at the corner of Irving and Forshaw Streets in Queenstown, Georgetown.

The incident resulted in the shooting and injury of one suspect, 29-year-old Chris Benn, an unemployed resident of South Ruimveldt Garden. Benn was shot by the victim, who is a licensed firearm holder.

According to reports, Benn, armed with a knife and accompanied by another male on a red and black motorcycle (Registration #CM 1812), approached the contractor and robbed him of his cell phone valued at $150,000.

Investigations revealed that at the time of the attack, the victim was standing next to his vehicle, supervising workers fixing a gate in front of his property. He had his Glock 19 pistol, loaded with a magazine containing seventeen live 9mm rounds, in his right side pants waist.

The suspects approached from the east, stopping a few feet away. Benn, the pillion rider, dismounted with a knife in hand and demanded the victim’s cell phone. The victim managed to avoid being stabbed but had his cell phone snatched.

As Benn attempted to return to the motorcycle, the victim noticed the motorcyclist reaching for his waist, which appeared bulky. Fearing for his life, the contractor drew his firearm and fired three rounds at the suspects.

The motorcyclist dropped the motorcycle, and both suspects fled on foot. Benn fell shortly after, while the other suspect escaped.

The contractor and his workers apprehended Benn. The cell phone, motorcycle, and one spent shell were recovered at the scene.

Benn was taken to Georgetown Public Hospital, where he is being treated for a gunshot wound to his back, which exited through his abdomen.

The police have questioned several individuals and collected statements as the investigation continues.
