Mourinho’s Roma to play Sevilla in Europa League finals.

By Jafar Gibbons
Jose Mourinho’s stock has skyrocketed with Roma, proving that he can supply them with an abundance of continental success since his hiring.
Dubbed ‘the special one’ in England, it is now in Italy that he is proving his exploits, winning the UEFA Conference League last season, and now, successfully has advanced the finals of the UEFA Europa League.
However, it would require him to beat Sevilla, who, according to my records, is the most successful team in this competition, winning a total of 6 times, the last time winning being 2020.
Mourinho’s Roma needed just a draw to advance, having won the first leg 1-0 through a strike from Edoardo Bove after Tammy Abraham’s shot was parried by Leverkusen’s custodian in goal. Roma would sit back for the entirety of the second, with little to no intentions of scoring yesterday.
Leverkusen enjoyed the lion’s share of possession, while also recording 23 total shots in comparison to Roma’s 1, even hitting the bar once. Roma was able to hold off the result through some impressive goalkeeping by Rui Patricio.
In the second semifinal second leg, Sevilla produced yet another impressive performance, winning 2-1 in extra time to knock out Juventus and advance to the final.
Both teams needed to win this match as the first leg drew 1-1. But it would take another Sevilla comeback at home to produce the result, as Juventus went up first in this one through a strike from Vlahovic in the 65th minute. Sevilla would continue to claw and fight their way back into this match and found the equalizer 6 minutes later when Suso hit a shot from just on top of the box.
Erik Lamela’s header made it 2-1 as the teams went into extra time to try and find a victory, and the game would end that way.
The two sides, Sevilla and Roma, will contest the final of the competition on May 31st, and my pick is with Roma, who will definitely be playing against a team that has never lost at this stage of the competition, which also makes them the most successful.
