The home of 35-year-old Moniann Howard of South Ruimveldt Georgetown, was set ablaze on the evening of February 23.
The mother of three who works as a nail technician was at the time participating in the Mashramani event with two of her children when her 17-year-old daughter received a call at about 8:00pm, informing them that their house was on fire.

Howard related that she quickly rushed down to the South Ruimveldt Police Outpost where she first made a report that her house was on fire, In the company of the police, she arrived at the scene where she saw the that the fire service was already there trying to contain the situation, but her house was already burnt to the ground.

The woman stated that nothing from her home could have been saved and the only thing left standing was their washroom.
Howard cited that the fire service informed her that it had appeared that the blaze started as a result of someone deliberately lighting the house on fire, since she did not have access to electricity while living at the property.

The woman is now residing at her place of business, where she dwells with her two children, under a tent. She noted that her children have been unable to attend school since the day before Mashramani.

Howard added that from time to time, since the tragedy, she has been received some help with cooking items and clothes for her children.

The mother of three is pleading for help as she wishes to send her children back to school and for them to have a comfortable place for them to call home
Persons desirous of offering assistance to the family in any way can contact her on +592 670 1030.
