63-Y-O with cocaine in crotch among Five arrested in separate drug busts

The Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) has seized a large quantity of cocaine in three separate drug busts on Tuesday, October 4, 2022.

CANU on Wednesday evening noted that during an operation on the Goedverwagting Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD), a 63-year-old driver, Roy Thomas was found with 16.8 grams of cocaine in the crotch of his pants.

In a second operation at Bagotstown Public Road, East Bank Demerara, a white motor car was intercepted and a search was conducted. Two (2) brick-like parcels which later tested positive for Cocaine were found. The occupants, 34-year-old Latchram Parmesh and 56-year-old Mohamed Yusuf Persaud, both of Essequibo, were arrested.

The narcotics had a total weight of 2.140 kg, with a street value of approximately $2.1M.

The third drug bust was conducted on the Goed Fortune Public Road, West Bank Demerara where another two (2) brick-like parcels of cocaine. In this case, 51-year-old William Mittelholzer of Republic Gardens, Georgetown and 42-year-old Anthony Cadogan of Charlestown, Georgetown, were arrested.

The narcotics had a total weight of 2.174 kg and a street value of approximately 2.2M.

Investigations are ongoing.
