Suspects on motorcycle shoot at police patrol

Early Tuesday morning a party of policemen on patrol in Industry, East Coast Demerara came under fire from three men who were on a motorcycle, forcing the police to return fire.

BIG Smith News Watch was told the police patrol was at the time patrolling the area as is routine when they observed three men on a XR motorcycle.

Because of their suspicious posture, the police attempted to approach and intercept but came under fire from one of the two pillion riders.

The police returned fire forcing the men to abandon their motorcycle and make good their escape.

After the motorcycle was recovered, police discovered that it had no registration plate or papers to prove ownership.

Police sources indicated that the exchange of gunfire took place sometime around 02:00hrs. No injury to the police was reported.

No firearm or spent shells were recovered from the scene.
