As COVID-19 cases continue to fluctuate and many persons continue to be hospitalized, the Ministry of Health today received a new ambulance to add to its fleet in an effort to provide more reliable care.

According to the Ministry, the $11 million ambulance is expected to be used by the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation to “enhance the facility’s emergency response services”.

“The ambulance is fully equipped with all medical instruments and supplies to provide basic life support,” the ministry’s press release stated.

At a small handing over ceremony in the Ministry of Health’s compound, Minister Dr. Frank Anthony officially handed over the keys to the new ambulance to the acting Chief Executive Officer of the GPHC Mr. Robbie Rambarran.

As at October 5, Guyana has recorded a total of 32,483 cases and one short of 800 deaths, according to the World Health Organization’s website.
