The Guyana Prison Service has been trying it’s utmost to rid its holding facilities and jailhouses of contraband including mobile devices but the task appears to be an uphill one as these items continue to pop up weekly.

In a recent video which was shared with BIG Smith Crime watch, prisons reportedly identified as inmates who are being house at the Lusignan Holding Bay are seen engaged in what can be determined as a ‘human friendly dog fight’

In the video, inmates are referred to pit bulls and other vicious dogs with what appears to be cloth tied around their necks.

The prisoners are seen scaling barbwire partitions and then allowed to ‘attack each other’ in a seemingly friendly way but which bears all the hallmarks of actual dog fights.

The video which has lasted for two minutes and fifteen seconds appeared to have been recorded with an iPhone.

Contacted for a comment on the matter, Deputy Director of Prisons Gladwin Samuels sounded disappointed, the senior prison official said that an investigation would be launched immediately to ascertain who are would be sanctioned.

In the past, the prisoners, especially those being held in the holding bay at Lusignan, have been finding some of the most amusing ways to spend their time in the facility as they away their trials and court dates.

They have been featured in celebratory mode on occasions such as Fathers’ Day, New Years Days with the necessary alcoholic beverages and would even be making social media posts from time to time although being behind bars.
