A third person has been charged and remanded to prison for the murder of 82-year-old retired priest George Chuck-A-Sang of Vlissengen Road, Georgetown. 22-year-old Orlando Richards recently appeared before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

It is alleged that between December 21 and December 23, 2020, at the St. Sidwell’s Anglican Church, Vlissengen Road, Georgetown, Richards while being in the company of others,  murdered Chuck-A-Sang. He was not required to plead to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison until May 28, 2021.

On February 17, last, Rawle McPherson, 45, of Victoria, East Coast Demerara, and Mohanie Mohabir, 43, of Corentyne Berbice, appeared before the City Court charged with the elderly man’s murder. They too were remanded to prison.

According to reports, the now-dead man lived by himself in a two-story concrete structure. It was alleged by his daughter, Renata Chuck-A-SangRawle McPherson, that on December 18, 2020, at about 08:00hrs, she made contact with her father via his cellular phone and they spoke as normal.

However, on December 21, 2020, at about 15:00hrs, she called her father via Whatsapp and his phone rang out. She then went to his home and was unable to contact him. As a result, she and others were able to open his office door and went up to the upper flat of the house. While there, the retired priest’s body was discovered on the floor clad in a white brief.

What appeared to be seven stab wounds were seen about his body while his forehead appeared to be swollen. The matter was reported and following an investigation, the trio was arrested and charged.
