CANU is also reporting the seizure of four firearms and 1087 units of ammunition.

For this period, CANU handled 30 cases and secured 27 convictions.

The agency noted that great emphasis has been placed on demand reduction and institutional strengthening, collaborating with various agencies as well as international cooperation by liaising with international and regional organisations in an effort to enhance Guyana’s ability to combat the illegal drug situation.

In addition, CANU has been conducting School Drug Sensitization exercises, as well as working to facilitate the development of treatment and reintegration of recovering substance abusers.
