Woman Inspector Johnson oversees the sermon at the Burial Ground for the baby

The police in Essequibo a few days ago lived up to their motto of Service and Protection when together, ranks from the division pooled their resources to cover the funeral expenses of 3year old Kissoon Williams.

Williams died on August 15th, 2020 following injuries he sustained at the hands of his berserk uncle who went of a stabbing spree in the Bat Creek, Upper Pomeroon River area.

A government pathologist on Tuesday carried out a post-mortem on the remains of the young baby following which, it was handed over to the relatives for burial.

Unfortunately, the relatives upon receiving the remains of the baby indicated that they were unable to off-set the funeral expenses since they are ‘very poor’.

Police ranks of the Charity Police Station immediately got into service mode and approached a senior officer and together they pooled monies and also sought assistance from resident and business personnel in the community to contribute to the funeral expenses.

The ranks managed to raise thirty-six thousand dollars and were also given a coffin to be handed over to the grandmother of the child, 36-year-old Malinda Daniels in order to assist with the burial.

The remains of 3-year-old Kissoon Williams were laid to rest following a funeral service at 09:00 which was conducted by Arlene Paul of the Suddie Police Station district Cops and Faith group.

The burial which was witnessed by a police inspector took placed at the Onderneeming Burial Ground.
