Within the period of December 17 – December 23,  ongoing efforts by the Guyana Police Force’s Traffic Department across all Regional Police Divisions, have totalled 2089 cases.

Of that amount, 633 cases were made for speeding, while 43 cases were made for Driving under the Influence (DUI), among other offences.

Regional Division 4 ‘C’ led the way for most cases with 751 made for the period; a whopping 366 offences made on Friday, December 22 alone.

Regional Division 3 had the most cases made for DUI, a total of 24 with 15 made on Saturday, December 23.

Drivers are being sensitized daily as officers are hosting lectures at different locations, including bars and restaurants.

Safety messages and lectures are also aired through daily and weekly programs on various media outlets.

According the GPF, this is in an effort to ensure a more informed public on how to use the road carefully with due consideration for all.
