Norton has no friends in the Diplomatic Community- James Bond

As he continues his sabbatical from Politics, Attorney-At-Law and businessman James Bond believes current Leader of the Parliamentary Opposition and Leader of the Peoples National Congress Reform Aubrey Norton has the toughest job of all local politicians in Guyana and that to date, has the most difficult job of all previous Opposition Leaders.
“He has been dealt a hand. If you understand what I mean is that, he has been given a basket to carry. The APNU/AFC is not popular, there is a lot of rebuilding to do, and there is a lot of rebranding to do in the eyes of the International Community, in the eyes of the business community, in the eyes of persons who support the PPP, to civil society. I think his job as Opposition Leader is the hardest any Opposition Leader has ever had, even to [President] Cheddi Jagan” James Bond told BIG Smith News Watch.
Bond, a Former Peoples National Congress Reform member made the comments while appearing on a pre-recorded episode of FOCUS which is slated to premiere this evening on the BIG Smith News Watch’s YouTube Channel.
The FULL INTERVIEW will be aired at 19:00hrs this evening.
According to the former party member, from the get-go, the challenges for Norton were clear after he became Leader of the Peoples National Congress Reform.
“When Aubrey Norton became Opposition Leader if you know; he had to wait, he was the Leader of the PNC and everything else and he has to wait to get into Parliament and when he took over Opposition Leader, his party is in tatters, a lot of factionalism, the country is against his party, the world is against his party because everyone, the media, everyone is saying APNU/AFC is responsible for the events of 2020. So you don’t have any friends in the diplomatic community, you don’t have no friends in the business community, you don’t have friends in civil society, and again, the people who support the PPP of course are not your friends” James Bond pointed out.
Asked about his view on Aubrey Norton’s refusal to shake the hands of the president back in August at an Emancipation Day Celebration in New Amsterdam Berbice, Bond said he will not criticize the Leader of Opposition as he is of the view that each person has their own choices to make. James Bond in his interview told Journalist Leroy Smith that the most important task for Norton at the moment is rebuilding the PNCR and branding himself.
“So he has the toughest job of now having to rebuild and rebranding his political party, create an image for himself because he has to create an image for himself…what kind of Opposition Leader he will be and what kind of president he will be in the event that he wins an election” the Attorney-At-Law stated.
James Bond said that great leaders are usually surrounded by the most bright and best persons around as they are the ones who help to make the execution of plans and policies easier. Asked if Opposition Leader Norton has such persons around him, Bond’s response was ‘No comment’
