MTI Triumphs in Groundbreaking MODEC Tertiary Football Tournament

In a thrilling showdown, Mahaicony Technical Institute (MTI) emerged victorious at the inaugural MODEC Tertiary School Football Tournament, staged Sunday at the iconic Queen’s College ground.
From the moment the whistle blew, MTI dominated the field, overpowering a disoriented Upper Corentyne Industrial Training Centre with a sensational 6-3 victory. The relentless MTI offense kept Upper Corentyne on the defensive, leaving them scrambling to respond throughout the match.
Winton Hartman, the tournament’s standout player and MVP, delivered a spectacular performance, netting two crucial goals in the 71st and 82nd minutes. His late-game brilliance helped secure MTI’s championship glory as they celebrated their historic win.

In the battle for third place, Essequibo Technical Institute stunned New Amsterdam Technical Institute with a commanding 6-3 victory, showcasing their unexpected prowess. Jim Carter shone for Essequibo, scoring two pivotal goals and solidifying their status as one of the tournament’s dark horses.
This thrilling victory marks the conclusion of a groundbreaking tournament, the first of its kind in Guyana, expertly organized by the Petra Organisation.
