INTERCEPTED: Captain J with the illegal fuel

An intelligence led operation led to the seizure of another vessel carrying suspected illegal fuel and the arrest of three persons. This would be the fourth such interception and seizure along with arrest made in two weeks by the Guyana Revenue Authority.

The vessel, “Captain J” was compounded and will be used to assist the investigation. Sources told Big Smith News Watch that the persons arrested are three Guyanese men. There is little information about the suspects and whether they have been engaged in the illegality prior to their arrest.

The vessel was plying Essequibo River when officers caught up with it.  It is suspected that the illegal fuel is coming from outside of Guyana.
