October 3 2025– Minister of Home Affairs, Oneidge Walrond, on Wednesday met with Director of Prisons, Mr. Nicklon Elliott, alongside Permanent Secretary Mr. Andre Ally, senior members of the prison directorate, and departmental heads to review ongoing reforms within the prison system.

The high-level meeting focused on advancing the 10-Point Improvement Plan and the 2025 Developmental Plans, which are designed to strengthen staff welfare, enhance inmate rehabilitation programmes, and improve overall security measures.

The initiatives form part of government’s wider commitment to modernizing the correctional system, ensuring better working conditions for officers, and promoting successful reintegration opportunities for inmates upon release.

The Ministry of Home Affairs reaffirmed that sustained collaboration across departments will be key to achieving these objectives in the coming year.
