The Guyana Elections Commission terminated the contracts for Chief Elections Officer, Keith Lowenfield; Deputy Chief Elections Officer, Roxanne Myers and the Region Four Returning Officer, Clairmont Mingo on Thursday. This was done by a majority vote of four to three.

Carol Joseph, Volda Lawrence and Clairmont Mingo

The four persons include GECOM Chairman Justice Claudette Singh and three government nominated commissioners while the opposition nominated commissioners abstained from voting.

This publication understands that the termination will see all contractual provisions which provide for benefits being honored except for the CEO’s case since there no such provision is in his contract.

All three officers are before the court charged for matters related to the March 2020 General and Regional Elections.
