Orenthal James Simpson, aka, O.J. Simpson, one of the most infamous high-profile Americans in history, has died after a long battle with cancer at age 76, according to his family.

The former NFL star, who rose to prominence in the 1990s during a highly publicized trial for the double-murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, passed away in Las Vegas.

Despite being acquitted in the trial that captured the nation’s attention, Simpson had been battling prostate cancer in recent years. His health had been declining, eventually leading to his admission to hospice care in recent months.

Simpson’s life was marked by both successes and controversies. Before his legal troubles, he was revered as an all-American hero on the football field, winning the prestigious Heisman Trophy at USC and achieving legendary status with the Buffalo Bills.

Even after retiring from football, Simpson remained a prominent figure in Hollywood, appearing in numerous movies and TV shows. He was particularly renowned for his long-standing association with Hertz as their spokesperson for many years.

Despite his achievements, Simpson’s later years were marred by the shadow of his legal battles and the public scrutiny that followed him.

His passing marks the end of a life filled with both triumphs and tribulations, leaving behind a complex legacy that continues to captivate the public’s fascination.
