Dr. Astell Collins Appointed Diplomatic Administrator for AFRIDU Guyana

The African Diaspora Union (AFRIDU) Guyana proudly announces the appointment of Dr. Astell Collins as its Diplomatic Administrator, a move signaling a significant stride in AFRIDU’s mission to bolster ties within the African diaspora and foster global collaboration.
According to a statement by AFRIDU, with his extensive experience and unwavering dedication to community engagement, Dr. Collins is poised to lead AFRIDU Guyana into a new era of impactful diplomacy.
His diverse expertise, focused on empowering marginalized communities and promoting cultural understanding, aligns seamlessly with AFRIDU’s vision of unity, empowerment, and progress.
As Diplomatic Administrator, Dr. Collins will spearhead efforts to engage with the African diaspora in Guyana, amplifying voices, fostering connections, and addressing challenges within the community.
His leadership is expected to expand AFRIDU’s reach and impact across the region. Central to Dr. Collins’ mandate is the establishment of a robust partnership with the Government of Guyana.
Through collaboration, AFRIDU aims to address the needs and concerns of the African diaspora effectively, promoting economic empowerment, social inclusion, and cultural heritage preservation.
Dr. Collins’ appointment comes at a pivotal time, addressing the Government of Guyana’s expressed frustration with the lack of credible representation for Afro-Guyanese both domestically and in the diaspora.
AFRIDU’s enhanced profile through Dr. Collins’s appointment aims to bridge this gap, facilitating more meaningful engagement and supporting the government’s ‘One Guyana’ initiative. Furthermore, AFRIDU will host the International Conference “African Union 6th Region” in Abuja, Nigeria, from October 1st to 7th, 2024, with Dr. Collins leading a delegation. Additionally, Dr. Mavis Benn, A.A., was appointed as Senior Advisor for AFRIDU-Guyana.
