DANIEL SEERAM REMANDED OVER ASSAULT CONVICTION

Sparendaam Magistrate Abigail Gibbs today ordered former Region Four Chairman and current National Border Patrol Director Daniel Seeram held in custody after finding him guilty of physically assaulting his ex-wife.
The court found Seeram guilty of assault causing actual bodily harm against Farzana Hamid, wrapping up a trial that originated from a report lodged by his former spouse.
Following the conviction, Magistrate Gibbs remanded the official to prison to await his formal sentencing, which is set for November 2.
