Chief Elections Officer Keith Lowenfield has proceeded on “GECOM approved leave” says the electioneering body on Monday morning. The commission in a statement refuting an article published by the state-owned Guyana Chronicle  said that the CEO is on ” accumulative annual leave” as the commission refuted that Chairperson Justice Claudette Singh had “instructed” the CEO to proceed on leave.

The Commission said that Lowenfield “applied on 1st September, 2020 for his accumulative 2016 – 2019 annual leave totalling 146 days” adding that this was was approved by the Chairperson. Lowenfield’s leave ends on the 30th January, next year.

The CEO is one of several GECOM staffers charged with public misconduct in relation to the March 2020
