AS COUNT WINES DOWN; ‘Do not lose hope, we will not retreat- Mohamed

September 03, 2025
Presidential Candidate of We Invest in Nationhood, Azruddin Mohamed, on Wednesday, called on Guyanese not to lose hope as the party will not retreat. Mohamed made the comments as the Guyana Elections Commission continues with the process of vote tabulation, even as reality kicks in.
“To all who are disheartened, I say this: do not lose hope, we will not be silenced, we will not retreat,”- Azruddin Mohamed noted.
He described the elections as one that was not fair, citing several issues which he felt undermined the integrity of the process, including voting by foreigners who have not met the requirement to do so, missing statements of polls, alleged ballot box tampering, vote buying, and victimization.
It should be noted that GECOM did address the issues of foreign nationals who voted in the just concluded elections, noting that those who voted met the requirements. The Carter Center, in a report issued on Wednesday, September 03, 2025, stated that the issue of commonwealth citizens who can vote in the Guyana Elections should be something that GECOM examines.
“Let us be blunt, these elections were neither free nor fair, numerically and politically, for the PPP to win in Region 4, where they have little or no serious support. The use of state resources and taxpayers’ money in propping up their campaign is a betrayal of the Guyanese”.
Based on the numbers being released by the Guyana Elections Commission, the Peoples Progressive Party Civic seems poised to return to government while We Invest in Nationhood appears to have secured the second largest amount of seats which if officially declared, could see WIN going into the National Assembly as the main political opposition, upsetting the Peoples National Congress Reform’s led Coalition, a move that will be deemed historic.
Notwithstanding such a milestone achievement for his ninety-day-old party, Azruddin Mohamed announced that he has already requested a recount in some areas. However, lawfully, recounts can only take place after the results are officially declared.
“It is important to note that no matter the result or aims and mission remains the same, we will never abandon, neglect, or disrespect you,” Mohamed noted
