DEAD: Dale Christopher

A 27-year-old man of 1A Rose Mary Lane, Tiger Bay, Georgetown was on Tuesday morning shot and killed at a J’ouvert party.

Police in a statement said three persons have so far been arrested.

Dale Christopher known as ‘Sun Skull’ was killed at Hill Street Lodge, Georgetown by a man who is known by the police and resides in East La Penitence. The incident occurred at about 6am.

BIG Smith News Watch was told that the police received information just before midnight Monday that there was a large gathering in the area; they swooped down at the location and closed off the event.

However, moments later, it is alleged that phonecalls were made and at the end of those calls among between some policemen the partying and loud music to ccontinued way into this morning.

Christopher reportedly left his home early Tuesday morning along with a friend to attend the fete.
About 06:00hrs, explosions suspected to be that of gunshots were heard.

One of the DJs’ for the event told police that he immediately took the microphone and cautioned partygoers against such practice.

By that time, hundreds of persons who were in attendance at the event, began scattering in different directions as they shouted that someone was shot. The event was then closed off.

A taxi driver told detectives that he was on Mandela Avenue where he was stopped by three unidentifiable males; they were lifting Christopher who he saw was bleeding from a wound to his abdomen.

The injured man was placed in the back seat of the car and rushed to Georgetown Public Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The body was examined and what appeared to be a gunshot wound was seen at the center of his abdomen.

Despite a Curfew in place to restrict partying and stop the spread of the COVID-19 disease, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) has been turning a blind eye to some events.
