STRUCK DOWN: Police Constable Roy Shanks

A police constable attached to the Ruimveldt Police Station was this morning struck down by a truck.

BIG Smith News Watch has been informed that the rank whose name was given as Roy Shanks was performing duties at Houston when the incident occurred.

We were told that a truck which carried the logo of GuyAmerica struck the rank, the driver of that truck is in police custody assisting with investigations.

Up to this time of this report there was no solid information about the condition of the rank but we were told an ambulance was summoned to the scene and took the police officer for medical attention.

The police have been improvising and tweeking systems to have the traffic coming from the East Bank and West Coast of Demerara Flow quickly into the city in the morning rush hours and out of the city in the afternoon.

This posture which started in December has seen additional police rank present on the ground and those presence are not just limited to constables but subordinate officer and junior officers also.
