WALKING AWAY: Basil Blackman

Personal and trusted friend of former President David Granger, Basil Blackman, yesterday officially resigned as a member of the Central Executive Committee of the People’s National Congress (PNC).

In a letter seen by Big Smith News Watch, Blackman stated that his reason for resigning from the committee was as a result of “several key decisions [that did] not sit well with me”.

The letter sent to the party by Blackman

Blackman also expressed his belief that these key decisions are now being “made without consultation”, thus driving the party away from its mandated purpose.

The former Coast Guard officer, who served under the previous administration as an honorary advisor in the Ministry of the Presidency, also expressed his belief that upon his official resignation, he is hoping that the position on the committee that is now vacant will be filled by a young person who has the requisite qualifications and experience to fill the capacity.

Blackman was awarded the Golden Arrow of Achievement by then-President David Granger at his Inauguration back in 2015.
