2 Year old drowns after Canoe flips in river

A search is currently underway to locate the remains of a two-year-old child who fell into the Kukui River in Region 7 yesterday afternoon.

According to information coming from the police, the parents of the child were paddling the canoe in the river when it toppled, tossing them into the river.

The two adults tried to rescue their child, but were unsuccessful in doing so. We were told that at the time of the incident, the family was heading to their farm along with five others.

A search party was up to late last evening seeking to locate the remains of the child. The matter was reported to the police via radio through the village Captain.
