Twenty Nine Year Old Dexter Cole, the biker who was killed on Sunday when he lost control of his CBR motorcycle CJ 2021 along the East Bank Demerara Public Road, crashed into a bridge and died; was fearful of becoming a victim of the coronavirus and was taking extreme measures to remain at home.

Cole who also owned and operated a minibus which plied the Kitty-Campbellville route; stated in voice recordings last week Thursday that he was taking all precautionary measures to avoid contracting the deadly virus.

“You could get how much money you want right now this sick ain’t got manners, it ain’t got a face, that is one; it ain’t got to do with whether you rich or you poor right now because your money can’t even help you when you get that sick” Cole noted in a series of voice notes as he spoke of the lockdown measures and how it was likely to affect minibus operators.

A statement from the Guyana Police Force on Sunday noted that Cole from Cummings Lodge was wearing his safety helmet at the time of the accident when he was lost control of the CBR motorcycle as it collided with a bridge as he was proceeding at a fast rate of speed. Cole received injuries to his head and body as a result of being flung from the motorcycle after impact.

“I deh home, I go on the road only if I have to get stuff, I go and I come back, that is it you understand me, so I deh in me house” Cole related in one of the voice notes.

Following the accident on Sunday, Cole was picked up in an unconscious condition by public-spirited citizens and placed into a motor car which took him to the Diamond Hospital. He was however examined by a doctor on duty and pronounced dead on arrival.

Cole leaves to mourn a young daughter, his mother, and other relatives and friends.
