Minister of Agriculture Zulfikar Mustapha on Friday met with residents of Siriki, a remote Indigenous village along the Pomeroon River, as part of the Government’s two-day Cabinet Outreach led by President Dr. Irfaan Ali.

The engagement gave residents the opportunity to raise concerns affecting their community while outlining the Government’s plans to strengthen agriculture and improve livelihoods in hinterland areas.

During the meeting, Minister Mustapha heard issues related to agriculture and community development and committed to working with the relevant agencies to address them.

Among the commitments made were support to expand agricultural production, the provision of technical assistance and farming inputs where needed, and the exploration of additional initiatives to boost food production and create income-generating opportunities for residents.

The Minister also assured villagers that the concerns raised would receive the necessary follow-up as the Government continues to advance development initiatives in hinterland and riverine communities.
