A 56-year-old man lost his life on Tuesday evening following a violent confrontation at Leopold and Cross Streets, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown.

Dead is Michael Dazzell, who was reportedly of no fixed place of abode.

According to police reports, the incident occurred around 19:30 hrs when an altercation broke out between Dazzell and another individual along Cross Street.

During the dispute, the suspect allegedly armed himself with a pair of scissors and inflicted multiple stab wounds to the man’s body.

The injured man reportedly attempted to escape by running through a nearby alleyway but collapsed a short distance away. The suspect is said to have fled the scene on a bicycle.

Emergency Medical Technicians responded and the man was later pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.

The body has since been taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

The suspect remains at large.
