A police-led operation at Puruni Landing along the Mazaruni River has resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of suspected narcotics, over one million dollars in cash, and raw gold, as well as the arrest of two individuals.

The targeted “cordon and search” exercise was conducted by a specialised police team on the night of Wednesday, August 6, 2025, between 20:10 and 20:30 hrs. The operation followed intelligence that led ranks to the residence of 37-year-old Hudley Khan, also known as Allan. At the time, Khan was in the company of his reputed wife, 32-year-old Venezuelan national Yolimar Del Valle Rivas.

According to a police report, with both suspects present, officers carried out a video-recorded search of the premises. During the process, Khan directed investigators to a multi-coloured bag located in his room. Inside the bag, officers discovered 23 bulky brown scotch tape parcels and one transparent plastic bag containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis. Additionally, a plastic bag with a whitish rock-like substance believed to be methamphetamine was found.

Both Khan and Rivas were arrested at the scene and taken to the Bartica Police Station, where the narcotics were weighed. The suspected cannabis totalled 12,542.5 grams (approximately 12.5 kilograms), while the suspected methamphetamine weighed 108.8 grams.

Authorities also seized G$1,120,810 in cash, believed to be proceeds from narcotics sales, and 5.9 pennyweights of raw gold.

Khan reportedly admitted ownership of the narcotics during a recorded interview at the scene but declined to provide further statements afterward. Both suspects remain in custody as police continue their investigation.
