Haslyn Hodge, the prime suspect in the murder of Evelyn Alves, a Venezuelan woman, has been remanded to prison following his arraignment today.

Hodge, who appeared at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court, before Magistrate Judy Latchman, faced charges in connection with Alves’ death, who was found with a gunshot wound to the back of her head.

He will return to court on August 2.

Hodge, a figure with a troubling history of serious criminal charges, including previous indictments for rape and murder, was formally charged in relation to Alves’ murder.

The body of Evelyn Alves was discovered on Sunday, July 7, 2024, in the New Diamond Housing Scheme by construction workers.

The gruesome nature of her death has left the community in shock and prompted a swift investigation, culminating in Hodge’s arrest and subsequent charges.
