This morning, investigators received assistance from individuals who claimed to be related to the deceased woman found on the roadway.

The woman has been identified as Evelyn Alfonzo Alves, a 23-year-old unemployed female of East Street, Georgetown. .

According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force, the individuals accompanied detectives to the morgue to confirm the identity of the body.

Initial reports indicate that workers from a construction company were traveling in two vehicles to refuel an excavator used for bridge construction in the New Diamond Developing Housing Scheme. While proceeding east along the road, they discovered the lifeless body of Alves lying face down.

Alves was wearing a white jersey with a female photograph on the front, black jeans, and black pumps. A butterfly tattoo was visible on her right arm, and her head was in a pool of blood.

Detectives processed the scene and found a 9mm spent shell about ten feet away from the woman’s head. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to confirm the circumstances surrounding her death.
