Children from the villages of Brother’s and Lonsdale, situated in East Bank Berbice, Region 6, now have access to new Green Spaces for recreation, recently inaugurated by Guyana’s First Lady, Arya Ali, during her visit to the region today.

Local residents have been urged to ensure that the parks are fully accessible to the children and to take responsibility for their upkeep and maintenance.

First Lady Ali reiterated her commitment to using her office to improve communities and enhance the lives of residents by establishing green spaces as part of a National Beautification Program.

She emphasized the importance of parks as essential recreational facilities that also create job opportunities for those responsible for their maintenance.

Additionally, she highlighted the health benefits of such spaces, including opportunities for exercise and stress reduction, as well as the social benefits such as fostering bonds, relationships, and unity among community members.

The newly inaugurated parks are equipped with swings, slides, seesaws, a pavilion, garbage bins, benches, and restroom facilities.
