GPF MOURNS THE LOSS OF SERGEANT VAUGHN

This morning, Deputy Commissioner ‘Administration’ Mr. Calvin Brutus, along with Commander Regional Police Division #3 Assistant Commissioner Mahendra Siwnarine, Welfare Officer Superintendent Allison Moore, and Second-In-Command (Region #3) Woman Superintendent Shellon Daniels, accompanied by Pastor Leroy Levans and other officers and ranks of the Guyana Police Force, convened with the grieving family members and relatives of the late Sergeant Alex Vaughn, who tragically passed away yesterday while on duty.

Mr. Brutus and the police team visited the mourning family at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, where they met with Sergeant Vaughn’s reputed wife, Jenel Singh, his children, siblings, and other relatives. Mr. Brutus offered words of solace and encouragement to the bereaved family during this challenging time, followed by a prayer from Pastor Leroy Levans.

An ongoing investigation has resulted in a Police Constable being placed under close arrest. Based on preliminary information, it is alleged that the constable unintentionally and fatally wounded Sergeant Alex Vaughn on Tuesday, March 12th, 2024.

 

Commissioner of Police Mr. Clifton Hicken has ordered an investigation, currently being conducted by the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) and supervised by the Chairman of the Police Complaints Authority.
