Altercation Leaves Dharm Shala Resident Dead, Suspect Arrested

Police are investigating the alleged murder of 62-year-old Dharamdeo Singh, a Pensioner of the New Amsterdam Dharm Shala which occurred on Sunday at approximately 21:00hrs.

 

The incident took place at the New Amsterdam Dharm Shala, Fort Canje, New Amsterdam Berbice, allegedly by a septuagenarian.

 

Enquiries disclosed that the sexagenarian and his attacker were seen arguing and shortly after the suspect, who was armed with a piece of wood, lashed the victim several times about his body causing him to receive injuries.

 

The victim was taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival and the body was escorted to the Arokium Funeral Parlour, awaiting Post Mortem Examination.

 

The suspect was arrested and is assisting police as investigations continue.
