Officials from the Ministry of Public Works have confirmed that works on the Sophia ‘Blacka’ bridge is approximately 90% completed.

In an invited comment, BIG Smith News Watch was told, while substantial progress is being made, works have been severely hindered due to inclement weather.

The Sophia-Blacka Bridge is a major infrastructure project that is set to transform transportation in the area.

The bridge is expected to provide a vital link between Sophia and the East Coast Demerara, improving access to services and opportunities for residents and businesses in the region.

The bridge, which is estimated at a cost of $50 million Guyana dollars, is now 90% completed and is commuters are eagerly awaiting its official opening.

Once completed, the Sophia-Blacka Bridge will be a major asset to the area, providing a much-needed alternative to the congested roadways in the region.

The bridge will also serve as a major transportation hub, connecting residents and businesses to key services such as healthcare, education, and commerce.

The construction of the bridge has been a significant undertaking, requiring the expertise and coordination of a large team of professionals and workers. The project has also been subject to strict safety and environmental regulations, ensuring that it is completed to the highest standards of quality and sustainability.

Despite the delays caused by inclement weather, work on the Sophia-Blacka Bridge is expected to resume soon, with the completion of the road works and rails being a top priority. Once the bridge is fully connected to the surrounding areas, it is expected to provide significant benefits to the local community, including improved access to markets, increased economic opportunities, and enhanced quality of life for residents.

Overall, the Sophia-Blacka Bridge represents a major investment in the future of transportation and infrastructure in Guyana, and is expected to have a transformative impact on the region for years to come.
