Kelsey and Jones net braces as GDF FC and Santos FC record wins in KFC Elite League Season 5 Opener

Santos FC and GDF FC recorded wins to commence their campaign in Season 5 of the KFC Elite League. Sixth-place finishers the last time the Elite League was played in 2019, Santos got off to a winning start by defeating Victoria Kings 7-0 while GDF conquered Ann’s Grove United FC 4-0 in the second match of the doubleheader.

Santos got off to a great start after stringing together a few good passes. It was Earl Gill’s debut in official games for Santos FC since joining from Georgetown Football Club in the recently concluded transfer window, and it didn’t take him long to find the back of the net.

His goal would set the tone for the match, as Santos look to exert their dominance over Victoria Kings from early on. By half-time, it was 4-0, with Shane Jones netting a second-half brace and Jamal Codrington adding the final goal of the match to confirm victory for Santos FC.

In the second game, the pre-tournament favorite, GDF FC made easy work of Ann’s Grove United. They looked the part for the entire game and sure enough, in the 27th minute, Kelsey Benjamin slotted in the first goal.

Ryan Hackett would then make it 2-0 6 minutes later for the army side, and the first half would conclude 2-0. GDF came out in the second half as though they had not quite finished the job of the first half, by scoring 3 minutes upon resumption of play through a Daniel George strike, while Kelsey completed his brace in the 64th minute.
