The Guyana Police Force’s Zara Computer Centre Debate Competition continued last evening (Friday April 23, 2023) at the Officers’ Training Centre, Eve Leary.

The Leonora Computer Centre and the Felix Austin Police College (FAPC) were the two teams competing last evening in the competition’s quarter finals round.

The Moot for last evening debate was “The use of technology has reduced crimes”. Each team consist of four members.

The proposing team members were Veronica Wilson, Vanita Shivnauth, Dawn Jacobs and Razenia Wong while the opposing team members included Natisha Walcott, Nia Mars, Leonee Layne and Nashavyan Kelman.

Judges for the event were Dr. Jamain Hatton (Chief Judge), Mrs. Ullanda Arokium and Mrs. Rosamond Hope.

After a night of heated debate, the FAPC Computer Centre emerged victorious and was sent straight to the finals, awaiting their opponent.

Coordinator of Guyana Police Force Zara Computer Centers, Assistant Superintendent Gladwin Hanover, in his brief remarks, mentioned that while it’s a friendly debate, the aim is to foster better Community Relations.

Mr. Hanover thanked the participants for their performance last evening and added that he is anxiously awaiting the debate finals scheduled for next month (May 2023).
