Mother returns from work to a dead child

A mother is left to mourn the death of her son who died by drowning Saturday evening as she was at work.

Dead is 4-year-old Shane Samuels of Lot 30 Two Friends Village ECD, at the time of his death, he was a student of the Anns Grove Nursery School.

Information reaching BIG Smith News Watch stated that the incident took place sometime between 20:00 and 22:00hrs at Two Friends, East Cost Demerara.

His mother Donell Adams said she left her son in the care of his aunt while she, Donell left home around 08:00hrs on Saturday morning to go and ply her vending trade in Georgetown.

The woman said she made calls during the day to check on her son and was told on one occasion that he was in the yard playing.

On her second check-up, she was told that Shane was missing and cannot be found. Later on, a friend called Donell to relate that Shane’s bicycle was found next to a trench in the village.

A search was immediately started and the lifeless body of the young boy was pulled from the trench by his uncle.

When Donell arrived in the village she saw the large crowd and her son’s lifeless body on the ground.

No marks of violence were found on the remains, a postmortem is expected to be done this week.
