The driver of minibus #BYY 588, 37-year-old Troydon Carrington of Hague Old Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD) along with the conductor and several passengers were on Thursday injured in an accident on the Uitvlugt Public Road WCD. The incident occurred at about 08:15h.

Police said Carrington was driving east along the public road when he attempted to overtake motorcar #PPP 9731. In the process, the left-side rear of the minibus collided with the right-side front of the car.

As a result, Carrington lost control of the minibus and collided with an unregistered motor Grader which was proceeding in the same direction ahead of the motorcar.

As a result of the impact, the driver of the minibus, along with the conductor, Oltan Francis, aged 34 years of Vergenoegen, E.B.E and several passengers received injuries about their bodies.

They were assisted by public-spirited citizens and were taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital and subsequently transferred to the West Demerara Regional Hospital for further treatment. One of the passengers, Tiffany Harry-Peters, was referred to Public Hospital Georgetown.

Breathalyzer tests were conducted on the driver of the car and Grader and no trace of alcohol was found, police said.

Investigations are ongoing.
