Retired Assistant Commissioner Winston Cosbert

Former Assistant Commissioner of Police Winston Cosbert has died.

BIG Smith News Watch has been informed that the former A/C passed away moments ago at the Georgetown Public Hospital where he has been warded for some time after complaining of feeling unwell.

Cosbert was well respected within the Guyana Police Force and always had a very calm demeanor about him in the execution of his duties.

He worked in several areas of the force including as Divisional Detective Officer and at the Criminal Investigation Department as Deputy Crime Chief.

Mr. Cosbert also headed the Guyana Police Force Special Branch in the latter days of his service in the force before his retirement.

After retiring, he was appointed a commissioner on a Board of Inquiry into the drug bond scandal at the Ministry of Health back in 2016.
