Thousands of residents along the East Bank and those transiting the East Bank Corridor in the vicinity of Diamond will experience a downgrade in the quality of mobile coverage which they receive from the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company.

This is as a result of a collapsed tone hundred and twenty feet tower which was brought down during the course of Friday morning during bad weather, the phone company noted in a statement.

“This is due to the collapsing of a GTT Cell Site Tower across the East Bank Carriageway near Diamond which occurred at 03:00hrs on 26th July, during bad weather” the release from the company noted.

There were no reported injuries as a result of the collapsed tower but the damage which is expected to be in the millions, is being accessed at the money by the company’s technical teams.

The phone company said that works are ongoing to have the tower removed
