Four men who are accused of having illegal guns and ammunition in their possession were on Friday charged and released on bail.

Those charged are Antonio Fraser, a driver of Lot 94 D’Urban Street, Georgetown; Keith Cains, a labourer of Lot 22 D’Urban Street Lodge; Tahj Fraser, of 47 Norton Street Lodge, Georgetown; and Brandon Barker, a taxi driver of 85 D’Urban Street, Lodge, Georgetown.

They all appeared before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs- Marcus in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

The first charge stated that on May 26, 2021, at Main Street, Georgetown in the vicinity of Tower Suite Hotel, Antonio Fraser had in his possession one 9mm, Glock pistol along with one matching ammunition without being the holder of a firearm license enforced at the time.

It was further alleged that on the same day, at Brickdam, Georgetown near St. Stanislaus College, Georgetown, Keith Cains, Tahj Fraser, and Brandon Barker while being in the company of each other had in their possession a .32 Taurus pistol and two live matching rounds when they were not the holders of a firearm license enforced at the time.

They all denied the allegation after it was read to them and were granted $200,000 bail each. Condition of the bail is that they report to the Brickdam Police Station and lodge their passport with the court until the hearing and determination of the trial.

They were all instructed to make their next court appearance on June 25, 2021.

Facts presented by the court prosecutor stated that on the day in question, at around 03:40hrs, police acting on information went to Main Street, Georgetown in the vicinity of Tower Suite Hotel, where they made contact with Antonio Fraser.

A search was conducted, and the firearm and ammunition were found in his pants crutch. He was then arrested and taken to the Brickdam Police Station. The court heard, that Police ranks upon receiving further information, went to Brickdam near St. Stanislaus College, where they met the other three defendants who were seated in a white Toyota Axio with license plate number PYY 5049.

A search was carried out on the car and the .32 Taurus pistol and two matching rounds were found under the driver’s seat. They were all told of the allegations committed, arrested, and escorted to Brickdam Police Station.
